The town church in Positano is called Santa Maria Assunta
and is a unique and memorable place to get married (provided
you’re Roman Catholic!). The centre piece of this
impressive church is a black icon of the Madonna which
ended up in Positano when passing pirates were caught
in a storm. Legend has it the Madonna had sung to the
pirates, ‘Put me down! Put me down!’, and
after they did so, the sea was once again calm!
